Al-Qaida No. 2 insults Obama in new audio message
CAIRO,Egypt (AP) - Al-Qaida No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahri insulted Barack Obama in the terror group’s first reaction to his election, calling him a demeaning racial term implying that the president-elect is a black American who does the bidding of whites.
The message appeared chiefly aimed at persuading Muslims and Arabs that Obama does not represent a change in U.S. policies. Al-Zawahri said in the message, which appeared on militant Web sites We... More ...

Bruce McQuain from QandO joined us once again for Someone You Should Know, our weekly tribute to the troops. Bruce is a veteran of the Vietnam war and spent 28 years in the U.S. Army. He brings a perspective and understanding to these stories that we could never match.
This week Bruce told us the story of Sergeant First Class Frederick Rowell of the United States Army was deployed to Iraq for two tours, both of which took place during some of the most pivotal moments of that ongoing campaign... More ...

It was a pleasure to speak with author Amity Shlaes Sunday night on Pundit Review Radio. Ms. Shlaes is a syndicated columnist for Bloomberg and a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations.
She has written a tremendous book, The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression.
Given the current financial crisis and governments reaction to it, this book could not be more relevant today. I can’t recommend this one strongly enough, it is truly a must read!

SEC charges Mark Cuban with insider trading
WASHINGTON/NEW YORK (Reuters) - Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks professional basketball team, was charged with insider trading in shares of Mamma.com Inc, an Internet search engine firm, the Securities and Exchange Commission said on Monday. Herald: Boston City Hall named world’s ugliest building
It’s official now. Boston City Hall is the ugliest building . . . in the world!
Bostonians didn’t need VirtualTourist.com and City Hall’s top billing on the World’s Top 10 Ugliest Buildings and Monuments list to figure that out. Residents have known it pretty much since the hard-on-the-eyes pile of concrete and bricks went up…
City Hall was singled out for its dreary facade, cold interior, its big, empty, windswept plaza, ... More ...

Mark Perry at Seeking Alpha wonders aloud,
Maybe the country would be better off in the long run if we let the Big Three fail, and in the process break the UAW labor monopoly, and then let Toyota, Honda (HMC) and Volkswagen (VLKAY.PK) take over the U.S. auto industry, and restore realistic, competitive, market wages to the industry. It might be the best long-run solution.

My feeling is that we have to do something for GM and For... More ...

Before the GOP figures out where they need to go, they need to take a long look at where they stand today.
The electorate is changing and the party needs to acknowledge that. They have become a regional, rural party dominated by older white voters. Some think the party needs to go right, become more conservative and focus on the core social and moral issues that have defined the party for the past quarter century.
I try to make the arguement that the party needs to open up, to accept those w... More ...

Sixteen year old Dylan DeSilva is the founder of Cape Cod Cares For Our Troops. Dylan has raised more than $250,000 this year in cash and goods. He has sent thousands of care packages to the troops overseas. We caught up with Dylan to talk about his Christmas Drive. With Veterans Day around the corner this is a great organization to support.

The new round of anonymous trashing of Sarah Palin is illuminating. These leakers must really want to hurt Palin. They are so incompetent that have hurt themselves more. They have proved to be untrustworty and disloyal. They are clearly poor political operatives to have begun all this self-serving leaking with two weeks to go in the campaign. Not only did the leakers expose their disloyalty and incompetence, they have now made Palin a sympathetic figure.

Congratulations to Barack Obama and his supporters. As a fan of politics, he really pulled off an incredible upset. This was Hillary Clinton’s year and everyone knew assumed it. We know what happens when we do that.
As an American, it is of course, an historic moment. It says so much about how far this country has come just in my lifetime (Class of ‘69). Juan Williams on Fox just now said it so much more eloquently than I ever could. What a great moment watching him react. I w... More ...

Rep. Jim Moran, Democrat from VA, on what’s coming down the pike,
We have been guided by a Republican administration who believes in the simplistic notion that people who have wealth are entitled to keep it and they have an antipathy towards redistributing wealth and they may be able to sustain it for a while but it doesn’t work in the long run.
